More importantly, we’re saying that it’s a mistake to defend Amber as a game that does not rely on GM fiat because you don’t want people judging you or your fun. Instead, defend Amber as a game that DOES rely on GM fiat if that’s what it is. And from all accounts thus far, that’s what it appears to be. Jim Henley hints that it is (and he says that’s ok with him—cool!). Nathan Rockwood’s representation seems to indicate it as well. I’ve yet to see a position that convinces me this is not a game ultimately reliant on GM fiat.
