The game will support four players in cooperative and competitive modes, and will include Zapper compatibility. It also supports feelings of guilt over the adversarial depiction of Native Americans, and rationalizations about such treatment being a staple of the Western genre.

The interesting thing, I think, is how much this review talks about the game’s ability to emulate the genre (with the real masterwork being the emulation of the “kamehameha” move with the wiimote and nunchuk). We have the technology and game-design sophistication that the bar is raised for what we can do with a licensed game, and therefore we’re obligated to emulate the true feel of the source, not just reference it.

My current favorite games: LostWinds and Mario Strikers.
